The ongoing cycle path project will link the north to the south via the new routes. On Thursday, Ministers François Bausch and Claude Turmes joined a crowd to open the new underpass at Clervaux station.

Bausch said the tunnel constituted the first 800 metres of a vitally important cycle path which will link Troisvierges to Clervaux. He said it was not only essential to everyday users, but also to international cycling tourism. The project will create an essential link between the PC21 cycle path, which is under construction, with the Vennbahn, an existing path on an old railway line. Destinations along this route include Aachen and Monschau in Germany, and Burg-Reuland, St Vith and Raeren in Belgium.
The tunnel work cost around 1.2 million euros and took 270 days to complete. Cyclists will be able to make use of the 27-kilometre route from Goedange to Weiswampach and Clervaux to Enscherange over the coming weekend.
