Luxembourg customs officers this week accompanied police and representatives from the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) and the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM) to conduct inspections on meal delivery drivers in Luxembourg City.
Three delivery riders were found to be lacking the necessary authorisations. In two instances, the cold chain was interrupted or did not adhere to hygiene standards. Five electric bikes were seized by the authorities as they did not conform to regulations.
In two cases, the delivery drivers were forbidden from continuing their work as their immigration papers were either not correct, or they lacked work permits.
In total, 51 delivery drivers were checked, 39 of whom were self-employed and three were employees of delivery companies or their subcontractors. The nine others used a delivery account registered in the name of a third party. Several phones were seized to enable the necessary checks.
