Max Pesch has been appointed mayor of Bech after the former council led by Jill Goeres fell in a vote of no-confidence at the end of December, when the 2026 budget failed to secure enough votes. Goeres, who became Luxembourg’s youngest mayor at 20 following the 2023 local elections, stepped down from the council along with former alderman Nathalie Wohlfart.

Norbert Classen remains first alderman, while Jeanne ‘Bibi’ Wintersdorf has been named second alderman. Two council seats are still to be filled and will require an additional election later this year, although the date has not yet been confirmed.

Pesch is a member of the Green Party and serves as co-president of the Greens in eastern Luxembourg. Born in Echternach, he previously served as an opposition councillor for the Greens in his hometown.
