The man admitted to hitting the victim and threatening her with a knife during an argument. However, he denied pushing his then-girlfriend out of a window and claimed she jumped out of her own free will.

The victim was seriously injured and partially paralysed as a result of the incident and has been confined to a wheelchair since.

The man was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined €5,000 by the Luxembourg City Court. In addition, the man must pay the victim and her children €70,000 in damages. It should be noted that the court will appoint an expert to define " a sum that is as fair as possible.”

The charge of attempted manslaughter was not withheld. All parties involved have 40 days to appeal the verdict.
