According to the police report, the unusual incident took place at the crossroads between Avenue de la Liberté and Rue du Rail around 11.25pm.
The man pulled out a chainsaw and threatened customers who were sitting on the terrace of a local bar. He also damaged a wooden fence before heading back to his apartment. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
Police later confronted the suspect, who handed over the chainsaw and several knives. The public prosecutor's office ordered that these items be seized. An investigation has been launched.
