Officers were patrolling the area around the Gare on Wednesday evening when one received a blow to the back from a projectile.
It transpired a man had thrown a beer bottle at the police officer. The latter was not injured as the bottle broke upon impact against the officer's bulletproof vest.
Witnesses told the police the perpetrator had run off after throwing the bottle, although his escape attempt was in vain. Police stopped the man, who immediately admitted to the act, and confessed he was under the influence of drugs.
