The defendant stands accused of illegal trafficking of migrants in 11 cases.

Between October 2015 and March 2017, the defendant allegedly repeatedly tried to smuggle people from France or Belgium to the UK. He has been charged with 11 instances. In one of those cases, he tried to smuggle 15 migrants at once to the UK.

On Monday afternoon at the Diekirch court house, the prosecution demanded a 10-year prison sentence and a substantial monetary fine for the alleged human trafficker.

The verdict is expected for 4 April.
