On Friday morning, railway operator CFL issued a statement to advise the subway tunnel at the Mamer-Lycée station was completely underwater, with flooding affecting the electrics.
Engineers worked to clear the water from the tunnel using pumps, in a bid to resolve the issue before the start of the new school term. The station, which is primarily used by pupils commuting to the nearby secondary schools, was deemed fit for reopening on Friday afternoon, according to the CFL.
The water was cleared and the electrics were once again functioning as normal, the train operator wrote in a statement. The plans to introduce rail replacement bus services as a back-up have now been scrapped.
