The pub at Weiswampach Lake dates back to the 70s and has been empty since last year. In an attempt to bring life back to the lake and its surroundings, a fun park is to be built around the lake - and the bar demolished. A hotel is also scheduled to open its doors to guests at the end of next year, and dozens of water activities are planned around the lake.

However, the architect submitted a request to the Institute of Built Heritage to classify the building at the lake - thus bringing the plans of demolition to a halt.

Five of six members of the local council spoke against the classification at the meeting on Friday afternoon. However, this will not have much influence on the decision of the institute.

The next step for the lake is a meeting between the architects from the heritage institute and the investor of the place, Lamy Group. They will then discuss how the bar could be integrated into the new project.
