As the police told RTL upon request, officers were checking a house on Rue de Meispelt based on a missing-person report and came across suspicious items.

To avoid any risk, the police special unit was called to the scene and a security perimeter was established. Several surrounding properties were evacuated as a precaution.

At 10pm it was announced that the items in question were weapons and ammunition. The missing person was also said to have been located.

Shortly before midnight, the special operation was declared to have ended. A message sent to residents by the local municipal authority stated there was no danger to people living nearby.

A police patrol is to remain in place overnight and the property has been secured. It is likely the road will remain closed throughout the night but will reopen to traffic in the morning for regular bus services and other vehicles.
