The M.S. Princesse Marie-Astrid has a long and important history, as the Schengen Agreement was signed on board back in 1985. A local legend, the boat now continues to make her rounds on the Moselle river. The Marie-Astrid takes passengers from Remich to Grevenmacher and back, and is able to transport 500 people at a time.
The new season was officially launched on Sunday. As the pandemic continues, the boat can still only take a more limited amount of passengers than usually. Officials now hope to make up for some of the losses from last year, although the on-board entertainment programme is expected to stay limited as well. As the boat is also considered to be a gastronomic business, she has been eligible for financial support from the government.
