While volunteers, soldiers, and emergency services continue their operations across the Grand Duchy, Luxembourgish firefighters maintain their support in the heavily affected region around Ahrweiler in Germany.

A fire brigade was first deployed to the region on Friday to support local forces with clearing operations. 160 people are known to have died in the floods in our neighbouring country thus far.

A new group of 22 emergency service people arrived at the provisional crisis centre in Nürburgring on Sunday. The team includes firefighters, as well as nurses and first responders.
A mission of solidarity in the face of a catastrophe, "which will go on until Wednesday at least", officials from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) noted.
On the facebook page of the CGDIS, officials further announced that the teams are in "good spirits". They conduct several different operations, all concerned with securing areas and rescuing people.
