On Friday afternoon, witnesses alerted the German police to two vehicles racing one another on the A8 and A620 motorways near Saarbrücken.
According to the Burbach-Saarbrücken police department, one of the motorists involved in the race drove a blue BMW registered in Luxembourg. The other one was behind the wheel of a white VW Golf. Both drove at high speed and conducted several dangerous passing manoeuvres.
The VW eventually left the A620 motorway at the Saarbrücken-Klarenthal junction while the Luxembourgish driver continued in the direction of Homburg.
