With a 1:50,000 ratio, the map will help cyclists in finding and understanding both national and regional routes. As an explanation for the new map, Luxembourgish Cycling Initiative committee member Mike Sarter explained that many of the cycling routes' signs were no longer up to date. He also highlighted that routes do not show connections to local stations.
The map has endeavoured to improve this point in particular, showing how cyclists can get to stations from cycle routes.
Sarter explained that the map predominantly shows connections, but also shows cyclists slopes. Citing the example of electric bike users or less-sporty cyclists, he said that this would help these cyclists avoid paths which are perhaps too strenuous. The map also outlines view points for those planning on doing scenic cycling.
To date, the initiative has not yet developed an app edition of the map, but is in touch with the Ministry of Tourism to work on such an app.
