"Luxembourg is popular with tourists," says Sebastian Reddeker, director of Luxembourg for Tourism.

2022 was a good tourist season, with campsites doing well and city trips being a popular choice.

Luxembourg for Tourism has implemented an extensive communication strategy abroad, and saw a 70% increase in new customers last year.

Luxembourg has nearly 7,700 hotel rooms, 41,000 camping spots, and 1,000 rooms in youth hostels, but Reddeker still believes that more investment is needed in this sector.

As far as the nationality of tourists is concerned, the Dutch come first, followed by Belgians, Germans, and Luxembourgers. Tourists spend an average of four nights in Luxembourg.

Are tourists spending less?

There is a noticeable trend towards saving money, especially on food and drinks as well as additional on-site expenses. According to Reddeker, Luxembourg is fortunate in that its main clientele values quality over price.

The forecast for the summer is promising. In May, hotel bookings have already reached 70%, a 20% increase compared to 2022.
