On Wednesday morning, the Luxembourg police reported a significant increase in the theft of Land Rover vehicles, particularly Range Rover models registered in 2023, in recent days.
According to the police, the thefts mainly occur at night, with vehicles being taken from residential areas, either from the street or garage entrances.
The suspects reportedly target the cars’ electronic systems to gain access. To do this, they cut a hole in the vehicle’s body, allowing them to manipulate the internal wiring. The damage caused by this method can sometimes be concealed behind number plates or other parts of the car. Authorities advise car owners who detect this type of damage to contact the police immediately.
They also noted that other high-end vehicles have been targeted recently. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing, and last week, police arrested a suspect caught in the act.
