Luxembourg police are seeking witnesses after a woman's wallet was stolen aboard a tram last Sunday, one of two recent thefts reported in the capital.

Luxembourg police have issued a call for witnesses following a theft aboard a Luxembourg City tram last Sunday, 22 March.

The incident occurred between 11.55am and 12.29pm, when a woman’s wallet was stolen from her purse while travelling between the central railway station and the Hamilius tram stop.

Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with a man who was on the tram at the time and may have witnessed the theft. Anyone with information – including the individual in question – is urged to contact the Luxembourg City police by phone at 244 40 1000 or via email at police.luxembourg@police.etat.lu.

Separate theft reported in Gare neighbourhood

In an unrelated incident, police also reported a theft in the Gare neighbourhood on Thursday evening. An unknown individual approached a pedestrian on Rue de Reims, pretending to know the victim. During the conversation, the perpetrator stole the victim’s phone and fled. An investigation is underway.

Police have reiterated their prevention advice, urging the public to remain vigilant against such deceptive thefts.
