The Luxembourg police conducted a major roadside inspection campaign from 20 to 26 January, resulting in hundreds of fines being issued.
The campaign primarily focused on vehicle signage, with officers paying special attention to safety features such as lights and windows, as well as the condition of number plates and on-board documents.
Over the course of the week, the police issued 476 fines. Of these, 85 were for lighting defects, including issues with stop lights, dipped headlights, and main beam lights. Nine fines were issued to drivers for failing to sufficiently clear their windows, resulting in visibility violations.
Additionally, officers found 134 vehicles with illegible or damaged number plates. A total of 248 offences were related to vehicle documents not being in order, including 37 instances where drivers could not present a valid driving licence and 35 cases where the insurance certificate was missing.
The police also identified 60 vehicles without tax stickers and 102 without valid roadworthiness certificates.
