As uncertainty lingers over whether Google will proceed with its planned data centre project in Bissen, Minister of the Economy Lex Delles has expressed strong optimism.
During a session in the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday afternoon, Delles addressed questions about the project’s progress, stating that the second phase of the strategic environmental impact study is currently underway. While he acknowledged that it is too early to confirm Google’s commitment to Luxembourg, the Minister emphasised that he remains “very confident” given recent developments.

Delles highlighted the importance of ongoing discussions between the municipality of Bissen and the site operator, noting that key issues, such as site access, have already been thoroughly addressed. “One important message: the project is not dead”, he stressed, reiterating his confidence in the project’s future. However, he cautioned that it is still premature to make a definitive statement.
The update comes after Bissen’s municipal council approved an implementation agreement last week for the Special Development Plan (PAP) related to the data centre.
