Following the recent shooting of two Swedish football fans in Brussels, Minister of State Xavier Bettel convened the Counter-Terrorism Coordination Group (GCT) to evaluate the threat level here in the Grand Duchy.

According to a statement from the High Commissioner of National Protection, the GCT currently has “no reason to believe that there is a likely and concrete threat on Luxembourgish territory.” Threat level two, which is triggered in case of a real yet abstract threat, will therefore remain in place for now.

The statement further conveys that the list of “sensitive sites and events” has been updated and that the GCT will continue monitoring the situation.
