"Lëtzebuerg test sech"Luxembourg launches testing week in education, fourth vaccination centre

RTL Today
Starting Wednesday 8 December, the government initiative "Lëtzebuerg test sech" kicks off for a week of intense testing in hopes of curbing rising infections in the Grand Duchy.

This intensive testing week is part of the governmental initiative “Lëtzebuerg test sech” and aims at better curbing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus among the unvaccinated population.

Individuals are urged to participate to help break the chain of infections currently gaining ground across the country.

Here’s everything we know so far about vaccination week:

Primary schools and competence centres

From 8 to 14 December 2021, pupils in cycles 2 to 4 of primary schools and pupils in the competence centres will be invited to carry out a daily antigen self-test at school.

Parents of cycle 1 pupils will receive five antigen tests to perform a daily test with their child at home.

All pupils who have handed in the new parental consent certificate for the school testing scheme, which was distributed following the adjustment of the testing frequency decided by the government on 26 November, will be able to participate in this campaign.

Re-opening of a Findel vaccination centre

In the context of a large shipment of vaccines announced for next week and in order to offer all those concerned by a COVID-19 booster vaccine (‘booster’ or ‘3rd dose’) an additional opportunity to be vaccinated, the government is working on the temporary re-opening of the fourth vaccination centre at Luxembourg Air Rescue.

The vaccination centre will be used exclusively for the administration of booster doses by appointment only. The date of opening, how to make an appointment and the opening hours of the vaccination centre will be communicated to the public as soon as the vaccines are received in the country, which is expected to be in the middle of next week.
