Private citizen Carine Schuler, along with three other women from Aspelt, has set up the initiative "Save Wildlife in Australia" to spread awareness and encourage donations to assist in the fight against the fires, which have killed thousands of animals and are endangering more of Australia's wildlife.
The initiative has mobilised a number of people in just two days, donating and creating knitted and sewed items to send to Australia. Now the group must tackle the logistics of transporting the stock to Brisbane "The Rescue Collective" association.
Anyone who wishes to help can join the "Save Wildlife in Australia" Facebook group. Any assistance is welcome.
