As a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many transport vehicles were transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in particular to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians from war zones.
This transfer included school buses, leaving thousands of school children without safe transportation and making it harder for them to continue their education as normal as possible.
Following Ukraine’s call for help, the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works appealed to the Luxembourg Federation of Bus and Coach Operators (FLEAA) to apply for a donation of buses to support Ukraine.

Canach-based company Voyages Emile Weber responded to the appeal by providing eight buses in excellent condition, each with a capacity of 50-70 seats. These buses will continue their life on Ukraine’s roads.

Anne Calteux, the EU Commission Representative in Luxembourg, says: “An estimated 5.7 million school-age children in Ukraine have been affected by Russia’s unjustified aggression, and thousands of schools and facilities have been damaged.”
“Luxembourg’s contribution to this wave of solidarity will make a real difference to the lives of many Ukrainian children.”
This is not the first time Voyages Emile Weber has responded to the crisis. In late February 2022, eight coaches were made available by the company to transport refugees to host families or to the emergency structures set up at that time - an initiative that came from volunteers within the company.
