A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Luxembourg following a threatening TikTok post that authorities say could constitute incitement to terrorism.

In the early hours of Friday, 22 August, a coordinated police operation led by the Luxembourg public prosecutor’s office resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man at a sheltered housing facility in Luxembourg City. Authorities reported that the arrest took place peacefully.

At this stage, the investigation is ongoing, with numerous checks and verifications still in progress. Authorities have committed to keeping the public informed of significant developments, while respecting the legal constraints of the ongoing inquiry.

The arrest followed the discovery of a concerning TikTok post that authorities deemed threatening and potentially inciting terrorism. The content was considered a serious threat, prompting immediate action.

Following the arrest, the individual was questioned by judicial police officers and subsequently brought before an investigating judge. Based on the evidence presented, the judge issued a remand order, and the individual was placed in custody.

In accordance with the principles of the rule of law, the individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
