To commemorate the signing of the convention that helped launch the Belgium–Luxembourg Economic Union (UEBL), several politicians and ministers gathered at the castle on Wednesday. The convention was signed in 1921 and is considered an important precursor to the later Benelux group and the European Union.

Officials at the meeting primarily discussed how both countries can join forces in their fight against the pandemic. At the same time, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn and Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès both signed an agreement, which envisions a strengthening of bilateral foreign policies.
