The past week has proved particularly challenging for Luxair. Following the forced grounding of a new Embraer aircraft earlier in the week and the emergency landing of a Luxair flight in Nice on Thursday, the national carrier was compelled to delay its Dubai service, originally due to take off at 7:42am on Saturday. Luxair is not alone in being affected by the regional instability.

Several other airlines, including Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air Canada and the Dutch carrier KLM, have also adjusted their operations. KLM has currently suspended flights to Tel Aviv in Israel as well as to destinations in Saudi Arabia. Tensions in the region have intensified in recent days, with the United States maintaining strong pressure on Iran.

The aircraft is now expected to depart for Dubai on Sunday.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that an “American armada” of warships, including the USS Abraham Lincoln, was en route to the Gulf region.
