The delay was said to have been caused by a technical issue with the Havilland 400 aircraft. In a statement, Luxair said the problem had been identified while the plane was taxiing to the runway. The aircraft was promptly grounded and returned to its designated parking space without incident.

The passengers, who were not in danger at any time, according to the airline, were forced to disembark and wait for a replacement aircraft. The flight then left Luxembourg two hours after the scheduled departure time.
