Sadly, as disasters fade from headlines, public interest tends to diminish as well. To address this issue, the Red Cross appeals for continued attention and assistance.
Sheer emphasized that financial aid is of primary importance, as material donations can be a “double-edged sword” due to varying specialized needs across different countries. The rapid and flexible utilization of funds enables the Red Cross to provide the most effective support in times of crisis.
For instance, with the one million euros raised by the Red Cross in Luxembourg, they were able to collaborate with the German Red Cross to finance flights and trucks carrying essential medical and first aid equipment to Turkey and Syria.

The Luxembourg Red Cross is also in need of blood donors, noting that current stocks cover less than a week’s worth of needs in Luxembourg’s hospitals.
Existing donors are currently urged to come in without an appointment to donate blood at the Blood Transfusion Centre (42, Boulevard Joseph II in Luxembourg City). The Centre is open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8am to 4pm, and Wednesday and Thursday from 8am to 6pm. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the collection centre in Esch-Belval, located in the new medical centre (3-5, Avenue du Swing) is open from 8am to 4pm.
A list of other external collection sites is available on the blood donation website. The collection sites are closed on public holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
