Feller, who was sworn in as Mamer mayor on 8 December, will leave his post as High Commissioner in favour of a new role at the Ministry of Finance, under his CSV colleague Gilles Roth. Incidentally, Roth served as Mamer mayor for many years before joining the government after last October’s elections.

Appointed High Commissioner for National Protection in 2016, it is not yet known if a conflict with Feller’s new political mandate is behind the decision to leave his role. From 15 January he will serve as First Government Adviser at the Ministry of Finance.

Feller previously served as an alderman on Mamer municipal council before taking on the role of mayor. He also served as new Prime Minister Luc Frieden’s assistant during the coalition negotiations with the DP ahead of forming the new government. It is not yet known who will take over as High Commissioner once he has stepped down.
