On Monday, the LSAP’s national lead candidate, Paulette Lenert, joined Ben Streff in Eastern Luxembourg to present some of the party’s election pledges.

One critical concern in the East, particularly, is the enhancement of the RGTR network, with a special emphasis on cross-border cooperation. The LSAP underscores the continued importance of Park and Ride (P&R) facilities in this endeavour. On the national front, the LSAP places a significant emphasis on social security measures.

The LSAP is advocating for a tax reform aimed at lightening the burden on low-income earners and introducing a wealth tax. Lenert envisions a top tax rate of 48% or 49% for annual incomes exceeding €500,000. While the Ministry of Finance has expressed budget constraints for a comprehensive reform at this time, the LSAP insists that a tax reform remains imperative, in accordance with the promises outlined in the previous coalition agreement between the Democratic Party (DP), LSAP, and the Green Party (déi Gréng).

In addition, the LSAP champions the cause of residents’ quality of life, recognising that this issue cannot be solved through money alone. Economic growth, the party contends, must be complemented by policies that ensure citizens’ satisfaction with their living conditions. In this vein, the LSAP stresses the importance of not leaving any segments of the population behind during periods of growth.

Furthermore, the LSAP commits to reducing working hours by introducing a 38-hour workweek and increasing minimum pensions, all without raising the retirement age. The party’s representatives maintain that these measures are vital to keep the Luxembourg labour market appealing and competitive.
