Contactless paymentLimit has been raised from €25 to €50

RTL Today
The raise has already been implemented in most shops and will soon be active throughout the country.

The new measures have been announced by SIX Payment Services, as the machines are being reprogrammed for the time being.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Visa and Mastercard have come to terms with banks to increase the limit by €25. This constitutes the maximum allowed by EU laws.

However, after paying a combined €150 via the contactless method, clients will be asked to type in their code once more for security reasons.

Randomised tests will also be conducted for the same reason.

The national banking association has welcomed the changes made by Visa and Mastercard.
