Seven fire stations despatchedLightning strike causes fire in Koerich on Wednesday

On Wednesday morning, seven fire stations were called in when lightning struck the roof of a house in Koerich.

A major intervention of took place in Koerich on Wednesday morning. According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), lightning struck the roof of a house in Rue du Moulin at around 10.22am.

The fire brigades of Dippach, Hobscheid, Kahler, Kehlen, Luxembourg City, Mamer, and Steinfort were despatched. An ambulance was also sent to the scene of the fire.

One person was evacuated, but sustained no injuries. The road was closed for over two hours.

According to the emergency services report, a check was also conducted in Tuntange around 20 minutes earlier following a “lightning strike” in the Hoelgaass. The fire departments of Boevange, Lintgen, and Tuntange intervened.
