In an effort to control the flames and prevent them from spreading to the neighbouring buildings, rue de Warken was closed to traffic for the better half of the afternoon.
Fortunately, the fire brigade succeeded in containing the fire to its original building and ten people were evacuated.
Two floors, including the attic, were destroyed by the flames, but no injuries were reported. Rescuers were still on the scene at 7 pm, expecting to continue the mission until it is certain that there is no risk of recovery or collapse.
