Around 30 children from eight countries arrived in Luxembourg to participate in this year’s Children’s International Summer Village (CISV), a month-long youth camp hosted at the Scout Chalet in Schuttrange.
The young participants – hailing from Germany, the USA, Brazil, Sweden, South Korea, and other nations – spent four weeks exploring cultural differences while discovering shared values.
Under the 2025 slogan “Right Foot Forward”, the 11-year-olds engaged in activities centred on themes such as diversity, sustainability, and conflict resolution.
Programme Director Jaime Leogárdo explained that the camp’s focus aligns with Luxembourg’s broader messaging on human rights this year.
Each national delegation consisted of four children, an adult team leader, and a junior chaperone. Daily schedules included three group activities, along with “Delegation Time”, where children from the same country met with their leader.
Founded in 1950, CISV has brought together hundreds of thousands of young people worldwide and holds official UNESCO partnership status. The camps are funded through sponsorships, subsidies, and volunteer efforts.
