Luxembourg is joining efforts to combat wildfires in France by sending a team of firefighters and a firefighting plane as part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. Prime Minister Luc Frieden announced the deployment on the social media platform X, sharing a photo of the aircraft in action and expressing "solidarity with our French friends and neighbours".

A few hours after Frieden's post, French President Emmanuel Macron responded on his own X account, writing simply, "Merci le Luxembourg". Macron also included both the Luxembourg and EU flags alongside his message.
