According to the new Minister of Health, it is wrong to assume that the COVID-19 vaccine offers no epidemiological protection.

The recently appointed Minister of Health, Martine Deprez, reiterated these viewpoints while addressing a parliamentary query from the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR), stressing the pivotal role of scientific research in this context.

Minister Deprez underscores the significant impact of vaccines in controlling the pandemic. Yet, she highlights that the vaccines’ efficacy might not be as enduring as initially projected, potentially resulting in an inability to completely prevent or halt infections.

Considering the emergence of the new COVID-19 variant, Minister Deprez suggests that vaccinating an entire population might not be justifiable. The ongoing evolution in comprehending specific diseases has been a significant takeaway from this health crisis.

Furthermore, she asserts that there was no psychological coercion imposed on the population during the vaccination campaign, a point clearly conveyed by the former health minister.

In a parliamentary question, the newly appointed ADR deputy, Alexandra Schoos, hinted at potential shortcomings in the Luxembourgish government’s handling of the pandemic. She expressed a desire for more details on the government’s actions during this period.
