A change in leadership has taken place at Munhowen, Luxembourg's largest drinks distributor. Since August, Isabelle Lentz is no longer serving as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Her position has been taken over by Jacques Briot, who previously held the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). The company confirmed the management change to RTL following an enquiry.
According to Munhowen, the decision to appoint a new CEO came after the merger process with competitor Boissons Heintz was concluded.
Munhowen, which is based in Ehlerange, had originally planned to acquire Boissons Heintz, a company located in Hosingen.
However, the process was delayed after other market participants lodged complaints with Luxembourg's national Competition Authority.
The case was escalated to the European Commission, which ruled that the merger could only proceed if the majority of Heintz's hospitality (Horeca) business was sold off.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Belgian brewery Maziers had acquired those activities.
Isabelle Lentz is the daughter of Georges Lentz Jr., who led the Brasserie Nationale group, which includes Munhowen, for many years and remains the company's managing director.
After completing her studies, Isabelle Lentz first worked for the NGO Pour un sourire d'enfant, before running the Hotel Le Châtelet in Luxembourg City for six years.
In 2012, she joined Munhowen as Chief Commercial Officer, and in 2023, she succeeded Frédéric de Radigues as CEO.
While she is stepping back from the company's day-to-day operations, she will remain involved as Vice-President of the Board of Directors.
