Housing solution?Interior ministry working on regulations for "Tiny Houses"

RTL Today
The Ministry of the Interior is working on three new standard regulations to simplify permits and construction for so-called "tiny houses".

Tiny houses -usually with a surface area of around 20m² - have seen a boom in popularity in other countries facing housing difficulties - could Luxembourg now follow suit?

In a parliamentary response by LSAP minister Taina Bofferding following a question submitted by CSV MP on the topic, the Ministry specified it was working on regulations to permit municipalities to authorise the building of small housing units, or “tiny houses”.

Authorities are working on a framework for “PAGs”, or general development plans, as well as partial development plans and building regulations.

Once the municipalities draw up new provisions, tiny houses will be permitted in residential zones where they are currently excluded due to restrictive legislation.
