Former Deputy PM François Bausch on Tuesday morning joined RTL Radio for an interview that primarily focused on the contentious begging ban in the capital.
Addressing Minister Gloden’s defence of the ban, as well as criticism of it, MP Bausch argued that the issue of homelessness cannot be resolved with random acts of showmanship. He underlined that the former administration made significant strives to modernise police stations and the academy, with massive recruitment further ensuring that resources are not an issue.
According to Bausch, the Home Affairs Minister is now limiting individuals’ freedom without consulting the Chamber of Deputies, nor the State Council. The Greens politician believes this to be problematic in a constitutional state and that Gloden’s statements are demoralising to police officers.
Bausch concluded by saying that he believes Gloden to not yet be fully up to his ministerial responsibilities.
