LuxembourgIncreased consumption of antidepressants over the last 14 years

RTL Today
Between 2006 and today, 34.7 per cent more people have been reimbursed for antidepressants.

For sleeping pills, there was an increase of 20.6 per cent. Prescriptions for anti-psychotic drugs and those for anxiety were increased by 2.7 and 2.3 per cent, respectively.

This came out during a response from the Ministry of Health to a parliamentary question from the Green Party.

It is also clear from the figures that more drugs that also affect the psyche have been prescribed since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis. In March 2020, there was an increase of 14.4 percent in antidepressants compared to March 2019. In the summer months, significantly fewer medications were taken again.
