It caused aused quite the stir when the trees on Avenue de la Liberté had to be removed to make way for the tram. Their successors were delivered and inaugurated this Monday.

The 70 trees came to Luxembourg from the Netherlands and now await plantation on Avenue de la Liberté in Luxembourg City. The first delivery truck left the Netherlands last Friday. As one tree weighs around two tonnes, the delivery truck could only carry two trees at a time - you do the maths. A one-way journey from Holland took around 4 hours.

The first trees were planted this Monday morning around 11 am. Minister for Mobility Francois Bausch and Luxembourg City mayor Lydie Polfer quite literally lent a helping hand in the inauguration ceremony.
