On Saturday evening, dressed up carnival artists from the Moselle area painted the town red at the Wasserbillig night carnival parade. Indeed, the party ran all along the Moselle from the early evening onwards, with many impressive floats delighting spectators.
The carnival spirit then continued on Sunday afternoon in Remich – the oldest carnival parade in the country. Despite the weather not being as favorable as in previous years, the crowd’s festive spirit remained undiminished.
The abundant cortege of floats that passed along the Remich esplanade was graced by the beautiful view of the Moselle. As usual, sweets and wine were given out, with some carnival carts coming up with something special, as a float from the Oesling region threw carrots to the crowd.
At the same time, carnival was celebrated for one last time this year in Pétange. Indeed, the atmosphere in Pétange was just as you’d expect from carnival celebration, with floats and costumes being especially noteworthy.
As the season comes to an end, carnival enthusiasts and artists are probably already planning for the next carnival season.
