Along with a boat from the fire brigade and Grevenmacher police, the man helped to remove the nets from the water.
It did not appear as though the nets had been in the river for long, but 3 eels and 1 crab had already been trapped.
Once on land, the wildlife was released and the nets seized by the police. The owner of the nets could not be found.
The police wish to remind the public that it is illegal to use more than 2 fishing rods to fish in the Moselle.
