Trade union slams government plansHousing Pact measures are 'peanuts', says OGBL

RTL Today
In a press release, the trade union states that the measures are merely "peanuts" that offer no solution to the housing crisis.

The Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL) criticises the amendment to reduce the proportion of housing reserved for the public sector. In the face of the growing crisis, the trade union leaders would have preferred an increase in the proportion of low-cost housing managed by the state.

The OGBL also rejects the reason given by the competent authorities that public financial resources have been weakened by the coronavirus crisis.

In addition, the trade union demands the introduction of a mandatory minimum of housing units dedicated for public purposes as well as the introduction of a tax on real estate speculation.
