In response to a parliamentary question from the Pirate Party, Minister Gloden underlined that such matters fall under the jurisdiction of judicial authorities, not the Home Affairs Ministry.

The case centres on an incident during a retirement party, after which councillor Amilcar Caetano of the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) claimed he had been physically assaulted by a municipal employee. Following the alleged incident, Caetano sent a letter directly to the employee demanding €2,000, threatening to file a formal complaint if the payment was not made.

Because the councillor sent the letter to the municipality, the local authorities eventually involved the Ministry, raising concerns about the nature of the demand and whether it could be considered attempted blackmail.

In his official reply, Minister Gloden stated that such legal assessments are the responsibility of the judiciary.
