A Wednesday evening traffic check in Ettelbruck escalated into a dramatic police pursuit when a driver refused to stop. The incident, which occurred at around 5.45pm, resulted in multiple collisions and officer injuries before authorities apprehended the suspect.
After fleeing the initial checkpoint, the driver struck a parked vehicle in Niederfeulen while attempting to evade pursuing patrols. When officers approached the damaged car, the motorist accelerated toward Heiderscheid, lightly injuring two police personnel with their vehicle.
The chase culminated in a collision when officers attempted to force the car off the road between Eschdorf and Hierheck, with multiple officers requiring hospital evaluation following the crash.
Subsequent investigation revealed the driver had multiple existing police reports against them and was operating the vehicle despite a driving ban. Authorities discovered drugs and a large sum of cash during a search of the vehicle.
The public prosecutor’s office ordered the suspect’s arrest, with a court appearance scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Authorities closed the N12 between Eschdorf and Hierheck during the operation.
