Sticky situations, heavy manoeuvring and plenty of standstills: Monday morning's rush hour was particularly painful around Luxembourg-Gare, where construction works have caused a number of diversions and changes to the usual bus routes.
No longer passing through Avenue de la Liberté, buses instead take the Viaduct and Avenue de la Gare, which officially became two-way on Sunday. And Monday saw this new system's baptism of fire.
The first difficulties have already surfaced, with problem areas such as the intersection of Avenue de la Gare and Rue de Bonnevoie coming to a deadlock of buses, cars, cyclists and pedestrians. Another standoff occurs when buses coming from Rue du Laboratoire are looking to turn onto Avenue de Bonnevoie in order to continue on towards the centre — all kinks that will hopefully be ironed out once people get used to them.
