The Centre for the Luxembourgish Language (ZLS) has once again launched its annual search for the word or expression that best defines Luxembourg’s cultural and social landscape over the past year, in partnership with RTL, radio 100,7, Tageblatt, and Luxemburger Wort,

From 2 to 30 November, readers are invited to propose a word or expression that best captures the most important political, economic, cultural, or social trends of the year.

Once all submissions are in, the ZLS will draw up a shortlist of up to 20 entries. Based on this list, a jury will choose Luxembourg's Word of the Year for 2026.

The jury is made up of Pierre Reding, Commissioner for the Luxembourgish Language; Myriam Welschbillig, President of the Council for the Luxembourgish Language; a representative from the ZLS; and one representative each from RTL, radio 100,7, Tageblatt, and Luxemburger Wort.

Take part in the survey, available through this link by first suggesting a word and then providing an explanation for your choice.

Participants can also enter a prize draw, with three winners to be selected at random at the end of the campaign.
