The LCGB organised the urgent meeting due to a rise in attacks against drivers in recent months, which at times left people injured. Greater police presence is now expected to act as a preventive measure and discourage potential assaults from happening.

Although a joint statement fails to indicate how many attacks took place in the past few months or where most of them occurred, reports of incidents have come in from across the Grand Duchy and also from routes crossing the French border.
