
In March 2014, Democratic Party (DP) Education Secretary André Bauler stepped down from government of his own accord and was replaced by Marc Hansen. Then, in December 2015, the DP Housing and Culture Minister Maggy Nagel handed in her resignation. Hansen replaced her in housing and Guy Arendt took over as Minister of Culture.
After the death of the Greens’s Camille Gira, who was Minister of the Environment, Claude Turmes took over from May 2018.
The second term for the three-party-coalition also saw a number of changes, as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice for the Greens, Felix Braz, was forced to step down for health reasons in October 2019. As a result, the Green Party shuffled around its cabinet positions, as Henri Kox took over Housing and Defence, François Bausch became Deputy PM, and Sam Tanson took over as Justice Minister.
Later on there were further departures for personal reasons, as the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party’s (LSAP) Etienne Schneider announced his resignation in February 2020. Franz Fayot stepped in as Minister of the Economy and Cooperation, while Paulette Lenert took over as Minister of Health and Social Security. Dan Kersch was made Deputy Prime Minister.
In July 2020, the Greens’ Henri Kox took over as Minister for Internal Security, succeeding François Bausch.
In January 2022, Dan Kersch, Romain Schneider, and Pierre Gramegna stepped down from the coalition government. Georges Engel of the LSAP took over as Minister for Labour and Sports, while his LSAP colleague Claude Haagen was appointed Minister for Agriculture. In a career shift, Yuriko Backes joined the government as Minister of Finance for the DP. At the time, LSAP’s Paulette Lenert then became Deputy Prime Minister.
In April 2022, Minister for the Environment Carole Dieschbourg of the Greens resigned from her post. She was replaced by Joëlle Welfring.
